I was driving through the countryside on a cloudy morning a few weeks ago. I had just photographed a wedding the night before. I was exhausted and starting to get sick. The next day I lost my voice entirely. But the countryside was so beautiful that I occasionally pulled over, got out my camera, and photographed what I saw.
Along this beautiful stretch of scenery, I saw a pink elephant beside the road. It was so out of place among the barns, trees and hills of the landscape, but there it was, in defiance of everything around it.

I spent most of my childhood in those hills, either in the region of Corning/Elmira, or near Oneonta.
Such nostalgia in those images.
Except the giant pink elephant. That one’s just WTF.
