The Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences

This year, one of my big projects is going to be to make you into a Steampunk Secret Agent. You can think of me as your Q – I’m going to give you the tools to get you there, but you’ll be the one going on the journey.

This year, Galileo Games will be releasing The Ministry RPG, a steampunk character-driven RPG of action and adventure. Based on the excellent book series, The Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences, this RPG will run on FATE Core, which is a roleplaying system that emphases unique characters in its mechanics.

The Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences is a series of Steampunk novels written by Tee Morris and Pip Ballantine. The Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences is a secret agency with offices all over the world, Agents of the Ministry are the best, the brightest and the bravest from all the dominions and outposts of civilization.

The Ministry will be edited by Brennan Taylor, co-author of Bulldogs! and author of How We Came To Live Here. I’m going to be writing The Ministry with P.J. Schnyder with contributions from Tee Morris and Pip Ballantine.

I’ll be blogging about the process of creating the mechanics for the game here, as well as our development progress. I’ve already been talking with Tee and Pip about the system and creating characters and how to adapt FATE to the setting so that the mechanics emphasize what is fun about steampunk.

Court/Ship comes first, but after that is in the can, I’m looking forward to jumping into the Ministry.
