After finishing my 365 Days self portrait project, I never wanted to look at my own face again. Of course, that didn’t last forever, but when I did start taking photos of myself again, I did a lot of work to make me not look like me. That meant contact lenses, hair color, makeup, and for a dose of good measure, blood in the mouth. That’s when Dr. Mercury was born.
My focus on taking photos of others meant that I did quite a lot of work, from weddings, maternity photos to portraits to book cover to author photos.
I also started to explore more outdoor spaces, rooftops, parks, even the street outside my house to find locations. Costumes and makeup became more elaborate. I understood more about photo editing and how to make what I saw in my head become a reality.
