This is Raul de Parthon, your favorite character from the webcomic I’m writing. He’s a swashbuckler, a bon-vivant and the Dean of Vampires at a Military Academy in an Empire of Monsters. He likes dancing, fencing, gallivanting, and wearing a bigger hat than you. His favorite way to enter a room is via swinging chandelier. He has strong opinions regarding mustaches. He thinks that there aren’t enough “sexy” dances. He may have, at one time, owned a pirate ship. He’s made out with everybody.
Last week I fell down a story hole and did little else but write. Raul de Parthon and 14k is what came out of all that.
Natalie Kelly (artist!) and I are planning a webcomic. I’ve got Chapter One down, and Chapter Two coming along nicely, with further scenes and structure hammered out down the line. It’s a coming-of-age story that takes place in a Fantasy world. I like to think it’s like The Prince and the Pauper (one of the first books I ever read) meets Harry Potter meets Lord of the Rings meets your favorite YA book where everyone makes out.
I can’t wait to introduce you to the other characters. I haven’t had this much fun in a long time.
I don’t know anyone else but you that uses the phrase “making out”… is that just because I don’t run around in your social circles, or because you really are the only person using it?
I think it’s a pretty common phrase. There is a wiki-how for it: http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Out and Wikipedia says it dates back to the 40’s: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Making_out and this entire website seems dedicated to it: http://www.howdoyoumakeout.com/
Oh my goodness, yes. I’m very much looking forward to this!
I can hardly wait to have more to share! Character designs are speeding along, and I’m really looking forward to sharing them with people. So exciting!
You’re right! He IS my favorite character! You know me so well.
You might know more about him than most. 🙂
