Sometimes, often, I am my only model. The wonderful thing about my friends is that they have these busy, fabulous lives that take them to New York and Japan and off to work on curing cancer – so sometimes I am left to my own devices, but I have in my head ideas that require two models.
So I double myself. Play two characters instead of one.
One of the things I adore about photography is the ability, through angle and light and makeup and costume, to set a stage where I can create an image that never actually existed in the world. I never stood in front of myself, but here I am. This flexibility, to use the tools I have to make these images, has freed me to become more than one character in the image/stories I create.
